Lips are undoubtedly one of the most important features in accentuating a woman’s beauty.
While many women love the idea of lip fillers, they also have a natural fear of creating an unnatural appearance. The fear is not only limited to women—many men share the same concern, often associating lip fillers with an exaggerated, “duck-like” look. But does it have to be that way? Absolutely not.
For me, the most important rule when performing lip fillers is to respect the natural structure of the lips and ensure harmony with the rest of the face, maintaining a completely natural look.
Before starting any lip filler treatment, I always assess the patient’s expectations, face shape, asymmetries, and the underlying reasons for those asymmetries.
In my practice, I generally avoid using more than 1ml of filler in a single session. In fact, I often prefer to use less. I believe that every lip structure has a specific amount of filler it can hold. Exceeding this amount increases the risk of an artificial look or filler spilling over the edges. For very thin lips requiring more volume, I prefer to wait at least 3 months after the first filler session before applying a second one to allow for proper settling.
Apart from the filler amount, another crucial aspect is injecting the filler in the correct anatomical area with the right technique. I prefer using a blunt-tipped cannula, which minimizes damage to the tissues and reduces the risk of bruising and bleeding.
This approach also helps reduce post-treatment swelling, which is usually most pronounced within the first 2 days but subsides within two weeks, leaving a much more natural appearance.
How Long Do Fillers Last?
Hyaluronic acid-based fillers typically last between 8-12 months, depending on both the filler product and the individual.
For me, lip filler is about creating small, natural enhancements that complement the face, highlight its beauty, and add harmony—without compromising the natural look.
